EPA could alter dicamba guidance ahead of 2022 growing season

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) could revise its guidance on the use of dicamba for the 2022 growing season, a top agency official said Monday. “We are no longer certain whether over-the-top dicamba can be used in a manner that adequately protects non-target crops and plants,” said Jake Li, U.S. EPA deputy assistant administrator for pesticide programs.  Li, speaking during a meeting of the EPA's Farm, Ranch, and Rural Communities Advisory Committee, said the federal agency has fielded “many reports” of dicamba-related damage recorded…

EPA fines Nutrien Ag $668,100 over misuse of dicamba

This week, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency penalized Nutrien Ag Solutions amid allegations of applying dicamba illegally on farms in Kansas during the summer of 2020.  The EPA says that the pesticide was canceled by the federal government and that Nutrien applied it “in a manner inconsistent with the products’ labeling.” The Colorado-based company, which sells, distributes, and applies pesticides mainly for farming operations, will pay $668,100.
