Merschman Seeds Area Sales Manager, Aaron Harpole gives us a local view from his territory

Posted on: March 03, 2023

On this episode of Cup of Joe, Area Sales Manager Aaron Harpole updates us on his sales territory in the Kentucky area. Aaron covers Southern Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, and territory far south.

Primary Crops in Southern Illinois and Kentucky include soybeans, wheat and corn. When you move down to Arkansas and parts of Tennessee there is cotton, wheat, corn, soybeans, and rice.

Aaron’s biggest challenge from last year was the dry planting conditions in his area. The crops were a lot better than anticipated for most growers despite the dryness. In recent news, Farmers are dealing with extremely wet conditions and are eager to start planting and getting in the fields as soon as possible.

Higher maintenance is a priority with growers as well as keeping up with fungicide treatments. They are aiming for more nitrogen sprayed on time and applied with multiple applications. These steps will push growers to reach higher yields in the fields.

Keeping wheat clean is a common case for territories in the South. Bluegrass and ryegrass are currently coming through. To control these grass issues, Aaron uses three popular herbicides.

Merschman Seeds Starting Line Plus has become a trend in Aaron’s territory in controlling diseases and reaching higher yields. The main factors that contributed to Farmers coming on board with Merschman Seeds in the area include performance, quality, and the Enlist system.
